Is Lasik Right for You?
Lasik, also called Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis, is a simple and straightforward procedure that is performed to treat cases of nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and other refractive errors. It is intended to reduce an individual’s dependency on contact lenses and eye glasses.
Some of the general criteria for patients interested in Lasik include the following:
- The patient must be free from conditions that might affect post-surgery healing, such as conjunctivitis, dry eyes, infections, or injuries.
- The patient’s cornea must meet a certain level of thickness. A patient’s vision error is remedied by reshaping the cornea. If the surface of your eye is too thin, irregular, or misshapen, results might be compromised.
If your prescription is extremely high, then Lasik might not be the best option for you, as the results of highly refractive errors are more unpredictable. If this becomes the case, Dr. Yaldo will be there to provide you with an excellent alternative.
