Eyelid Surgery Michigan

Blepharoplasty in Michigan

Do your eyelids naturally make you appear angry, tired, and or sad? With age, the skin around our eyelids begins to sag and loosen especially around the upper lids and eyebrows and this can create a “droopy eyelids” effect. During eyelid surgery, Michigan plastic surgeons reconstruct the eyelids to make them appear more natural and subtle.

For people interested in restoring their eyelids, the Michigan eyelid surgery specialists at Yaldo Eye Center are here to help you take the next step to look and feel younger in your own skin. Rejuvenating your eyelids with blepharoplasty in Michigan is something that can boost your confidence and allow you to feel more confident.

What are the Benefits of Eyelid Surgery?

Blepharoplasty, more commonly referred to as eyelid surgery in Michigan can greatly enhance the overall facial appearance of both men and women in Michigan. Blepharoplasty is known to leave patients with a vibrant and youthful look that will make patients feel significantly more confident in their appearance.

Blepharoplasty can achieve the following:

  • Create a more vibrant and youthful facial appearance.
  • Permanently lift heavy and droopy eyelids.
  • Reduce droopiness and puffiness in the lower eyelids.
  • Smooth out age-related wrinkles around the eyes.

Eyelid surgery is permanent and results will become clear within weeks after your surgery. For some patients, it may take up to 6 to 12 months before your new youthful appearance is 100% manifested. Give the Michigan Eyelid surgery experts at Yaldo Eye Center a call today to learn about how this popular procedure works and if its right for you.

Who is a candidate for eyelid surgery in Michigan?

Men and women who are looking to undergo eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift in Michigan best be eligible candidates, as with all cosmetic surgeries in Michigan. The ideal candidate is someone in their middle ages suffering from droopy eyelids, loose eyelid skin, and baggy/puffy upper eyes. Michigan candidates should also maintain a realistic expectation on the results, as no surgery is a miracle procedure. Candidates should also be in general good health and should not be suffering from any medical conditions that may interfere with healing and recovery.

How is eyelid surgery performed?

Depending on the choice of your surgeon, and on the extent of your procedure, you may either be put under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. The procedure begins with small incisions above the eyelids, or just beneath the eyelashes. The incisions are carefully created beneath wrinkle links so that there are no detectable scars after the area has fully healed. Once beneath the skin, the surgeon will remove and distort muscle, fat, and skin in order to create a more vibrant and youthful look that is tight and firm, yet natural in appearance.

How long is the recovery for eyelid surgery?

Most patients return to work or daily life 7-10 days after surgery. The postoperative period after eyelid surgery often begins with some swelling and slight bruising in some cases. Dry eyes, irritation, and slight pain are not serious but can do occur as well. Gauze wrap and some small bandages may also be used in the period immediately following surgery. Following surgery, patients may need to take anywhere from 2 days to a full week off work depending on the extent of their procedure and strenuous activities should be negated for a month following.

Healing after your eyelid surgery

Your surgeon will provide you with a detailed recovery plan in order to get back to your regular schedule as fast as possible. This may include medications, healing regimens, and tips to help speed up your recovery and bring about your results as fast as possible. You will also come into Yaldo Eye Center for post-op and follow up appointments to ensure that your procedure went smoothly and that you are recovering properly.

As any and all swelling subsides in the following weeks, Michigan eyelid surgery patients will begin to see a more defined, youthful, and vibrant appearance around there eyelids and this will translate to a more youthful overall appearance, as the face (especially the eyes) is the focus of attention on a person.

What are the types of eyelid conditions?

Blepharitis is a relatively common eyelid disorder in both children and adults. Symptoms of blepharitis include burning, itching, redness and swelling of the eyelids; irritation, dry eye, tearing and crusty debris around the lash line (especially after sleep). Causes of blepharitis include bacteria and allergies. A special eyelid cleaning regime and in severe cases, antibiotics can help manage this chronic condition.

A Stye is an inflammation or infection of the eyelid, usually resulting from a blocked oil-producing gland at the base of an eyelash. May cause light sensitivity, tearing and the feeling of a foreign body in the eye. Localized pain and discomfort is to be expected as the stye comes to a head. A warm compress often helps resolve a stye. One should never force a stye to drain because it could result in an eye infection. If styes are a repeating issue, regular application of an antibiotic might be prescribed.

A chalazion is a painless lump on the eyelid typically, but not necessarily, caused by a stye that becomes infected and inflamed. It can press on the eye and cause blurred vision. Warm compresses and eyelid massages can help the chalazion drain. An in-office procedure or corticosteroid injections can clear the contents of the chalazion.
